Compliance of Dangerous Goods by Air - Initial & refresher courses

The CBFCA, through its training partners, is able to provide you with the most comprehensive and up-to-date DG courses in Australia. You can also be assured that all DG Air courses offered through the CBFCA are approved by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as meeting the standards required by national and international regulators.

Who should do this course?

This course is for you if you are:
  • A shipper responsible for any part of the preparation of dangerous goods consignments, including packaging, marking, labeling and documentation or control of dangerous materials shipped by air
  • A person who accepts air freight for, or on behalf of, freight forwarders and air operators/airlines in Australia 

What's in this course?

 After completing this training, you will have an understanding of the legal requirements and operational restrictions that apply to shipments of dangerous goods intended for air transport. You will gain the knowledge to be able to identify, handle and process consignments according to national and international regulations. 

Skills learnt will include classification, identification, packing, marking, labelling and documentation of dangerous goods consignments. Personnel of freight forwarders and operators (and their agents) will also learn responsibilities involving the acceptance and transportation of dangerous goods consignments.

The course content is based on the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. You will receive training that will enable you to interpret the contents of this publication and apply its principles to safely prepare dangerous goods for air transport.

How is this course delivered?

Compliance of Dangerous Goods by Air - Initial
Three-days in a classroom mode at  venues in all major capital cities around Australia.This is the course for persons who have yet to be accredited or whose accreditation has lapsed.
Five half days in a live on-line environment with a qualified instructor conducting the training over the internet (virtual classroom).

Compliance of Dangerous Goods by Air - Refresher
One-day in a classroom mode at venues in all major capital cities around Australia.
One-day or two half days in a live on-line environment with a qualified instructor conducting the training over the internet (virtual classroom).

You will need to complete a refresher course if:
  • You have already completed the initial acceptance course previously; and
  • You are within three months of your initial acceptance two-year accreditation expiring
