Duty concession - Item 57 extended to 31 December 2020

The IFCBAA as a member of the Australian Border Force (ABF), NCTF, TFIWG and CAG national consultative forums was informed by ABF that the Government will extend the duty concession on imports of certain medical and hygiene products for use in combating COVID-19 until 31 December 2020.

The duty concession is currently provided by Item 57 in the 4th schedule of the Customs Tariff Act 1995 and By-law no. 2019608, as per
ACN 2020/20 - New Concessional Item 57 and By-law No. 2019608 to Schedule 4 of the Customs Tariff Act 1995

The extension to the duty concession will be via a new Item (Item 57A) and a new By-law to operate from 1 August 2020.

Details to enable imports to use the new concession (treatment code and instrument number) will be published on the ABF website via an Australian Customs Notice (ACN 2020/30). We expect this to happen by Friday. Any questions on the extension can be sent to [email protected].

The IFCBAA welcomes this ABF and Government initiative to support imports of certain medical and hygiene products for use in combating COVID-19.
