RESOLUTION - "NR" incorrectly added as a customs quantity HS 2017 (NNF 2017/002)

Since the CBFCA were made aware of this issue early this morning we have been in constant dialogue with the DIBP.

We have been advised "that users should now be able to lodge FIDs without undue errors”.

Please note however, that it may depend on the software you use and how it handles the Reference File data

The Department has posted an announcement on ICS regarding the issue.

For any further information please contact Megan White on (02) 9587 1986.

Earlier communication;

"As members will have noted there are current issues with certain tariff items and unit quantity requirements under  HS2017.  The CBFCA and software providers are in liaison with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) regarding this matter.

The customs quantity of "NR" has been added to many of the new tariff numbers in the CMR reference files in error. We have brought this to the attention of the department and been advised that they are already aware of the issue and working on rectification.

The Department is currently making the necessary changes to resolve it today, however, this won’t help industry until tomorrow when the updated EDI Reference Files are available.

The CBFCA followed up with the Department regularly to ensure that the HS2017 information was supplied as soon as practicable, although not nearly early enough, and now it would appear that some checks and balances may have been overlooked. Again this a critical time of year for industry when many attempt to take a short respite from the challenges of the previous year!

A further communication will be sent shortly as we understand that the department are looking for a 'work around' for entries to be lodged today rather than having to resort to a manual process through the ICS."
