AMSA has determined that mandatory training is to be undertaken for all personnel involved in processing DG shipments that will be transported by ship.

The CBFCA can assist you in meeting your training requirements by offering training that is fully accredited by AMSA  and that meets the requirements of Chapter 1.3 of the IMDG Code.

The AEP for Commodities training is delivered on-line.  The course costs $135 including GST.  To enrol in and commence the training course please access the Guardian Training website  www.iwgq.com.au and select 'Purchase a Course' from the left sidebar.

AQIS Accreditation Courses

The AQIS Accreditation Course is a course accessible to ALL industry personnel who would like to know more about Quarantine processes and how the Accreditation schemes operate. Course participants do NOT have to be licensed customs brokers or importers of record however these are the only persons who can participate in the Accreditation schemes.

Customs brokers in Australia are amongst the most professional in the world today. They are skilled service providers and have been through a rigorous program of tertiary training as well as a structured assessment of their operational skills. They attend regular professional development to ensure that their skills are maintained and enhanced in line with changes to Australian Government regulation and accepted industry practices internationally.

The National Customs Brokers Course (NCBC) is an eleven unit program of study that is now the course approved by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service as the pre-requisite course of study for persons intending to become licensed as customs brokers in Australia. The CBFCA is leading the way in the development of the Diploma of International Freight Forwarding, the first purpose-built qualification of its type in Australia.

Initial response from industry has been overwhelmingly in favour of this new qualfication which fills a key gap in the professional development opportunities for senior international freight forwarders.

The purpose of the National Examination

The National Examination is facilitated by the CBFCA and is used to determine if candidates possess the "acquired experience" necessary to become licensed customs brokers in Australia.

A pass in the National Examination may be taken into account by the CEO of Customs as evidence that an applicant for a customs brokers licence possesses the "acquired experience", referred to in S183CC(2)(b) Customs Act, necessary to become a licensed customs broker in Australia.

Quarantine Approved Premises (QAP) for Accredited Persons training is available through the Industry Working Group on Quarantine.
