A Guide to Port of Melbourne Supply Chain (VNF 2019/004)

Port of Melbourne

The movement of goods through any port typically involves a variety of companies and service providers – stevedores, freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport companies, empty container parks and shipping lines. Each of these companies charges a fee for moving the cargo.

While the services these companies provide are essential in the movement of freight, it can be difficult to understand the various charges which are levied along the supply chain.

Port of Melbourne has developed a guide to raise the awareness of the Port of Melbourne Supply Chain, which may assist the stakeholders involved in the port supply chain.

The CBFCA has a close working relationship with the Port of Melbourne and we regularly participate as a panel member at the annual Melbourne Port System Induction Workshops, raising the awareness of how the port supply chain operates, and the roles of the key stakeholders in the chain.
