Port of Melbourne - February Container Trade Report (VNF 2018/012)

It is positive to see an increase in imports of 37.8% against February last year. Most commodities recorded gains for the month including furniture, electrical equipment, metal manufactures, clothing, machinery, timber and builders hardware.

Container exports was up 17.8% against February 2017. Most commodities recorded gains for the month including paper & fibre boards, timber, fruit & vegetables, beverages, dairy products, paper & newsprint, meat, wool and hides, skins & furs. Commodities with the most notable declines were oil seeds, nuts & kernels, pulp & waste paper and cereal grains.
