Melbourne Airport - Hazards associated with high wind (VNF 2017/028)

Melbourne Airport has released a Safety Alert to all tenants advising them of the hazards associated with high winds and is forwarded for your information.

High winds can present safety hazards to workers, the public and airport operations, and as such, temporary site structures and items that could become airborne in high winds should be secured to resist adverse weather conditions.

Temporary site structures can include hoardings, site fences, temporary covered walkways, temporary awnings and signage.

Other items that could become airborne in high winds can include empty water-filled barriers, Unit Loading Devices (ULDs), Foreign Object Debris (FOD), bollards, crowd control barriers, construction materials and other loose items.
