November Professional Development Forums (TNF2017/040)

We are delighted to advise that we will again be providing our November Professional Development Forums this year for you to update your skills and knowledge on key topics. These sessions will also enable you to attain any additional CPD points that you may require.

This year we have varied the format slightly to include two separate presentations in the one two-hour session, one with a legislative focus and the other a session dealing with Free Trade Agreements, especially those from North Asia.

The details of the sessions are as follows:

Session 1: Legislative Update
Andrew Hudson, Partner at Rigby Cooke Lawyers, will again deliver to attendees an informative update on legislative changes/decisions and how they impact on your day to day business. It's not your imagination: there has been a lot happening this year and here is your chance to get right up to date for 2017.

Session 2: Austrade – Free Trade Agreement Awareness Update
At one stage there, didn't it almost seem like it was a case of: "another week/another FTA"? Things have settled down now but our good friends at Austrade have pointed out to us that there is still a failure by some sectors to take up the benefits of FTAs. Austrade are seeking the help of the CBFCA and its professional members to increase this uptake.

Why the focus on FTAs? While there has been some great take-up of FTAs in certain sectors, across the board there are gaps where Aussie companies are not getting the full benefits of these FTAs. Figures provided by Austrade show that in some sectors there is a very low uptake and the reasons given were that some companies were:

  • unsure about the benefits of FTAs
  • concerned about the requirements for Rules of Origin
  • didn't know how to comply with FTAs

This is where we come in. We are the experts when it comes to FTAs and we can add value to our clients by bringing this knowledge to them and assisting them to improve their bottom line.

Whilst attendance at these sessions has normally been priced at $60.00 (+ GST), through the support of our friends at Austrade we able to offer both sessions for the price of $40.00 (+GST).

Special Offer – if you have any export clients you wish to bring along to the Austrade session THEY CAN ATTEND FOR FREE – all you need to do is email their names through to us for administration and catering purposes. They can attend just the FTA session or BOTH sessions is they prefer.
