CBFCA Comments

During the current BMSB emergency measures we have supported members with regular updates and worked with the policy and assessment teams in the Department of Agriculture and Water Resource ( the Department) to assist with the facilitation of cargo during the challenging period.

We also participated in numerous meetings with the Department and key industry stakeholders to further support our members and those that offer FAK consolidated service and worked with the Department since the amended process for LCL containerised goods from Italy to improve the overall manual process.

We will continue to work with the Department prior to the commencement of the next BMSB risk season to provide feedback on the proposed strategy to be issued in advance of the 2018-2019 BMSB risk season.

It has been a challenging BMSB season for industry and the Department and we hope early planning will result in better policy and process with limited impact on the trading community for the next risk season.
