AEP Reform Project Update - BICON AEPCOMM Access (NNF 2018/031)

As referenced in past national newsflashes we have been working with the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (the Department) as a member of the Automatic Entry Processing (AEP) Reform Project Working Group to ensure members needs are considered in the AEP reform that aims to improve the overall process.

At the working group meetings we focused on the following key topics.

  • Commodity Expansion
  • New AEP model that is flexible for the management of commodity and non-commodity concerns
  • New simplified and automated concern types
  • New simplified and outcome based AEPCOMM codes
  • Monitoring and assessing compliance – audit and sanction policy

The Department has advised us that information on the AEP Reform webpage has been updated with current information about the AEP Reform project.

Although the information on the webpage is general, we would like to draw attention to the availability of BICON AEPCOMM access.

Please note, accredited persons for AEPCOMM are required to gain access to this BICON version prior to implementation of the phase 2 changes in mid-2018 as AEPCOMM pathways and codes will no longer be visible on the public version after implementation.

BICON AEPCOMM has new functionality that will provide accredited persons more support through the decision making process when lodging entries under the AEPCOMM arrangement.

BICON help cards to gain AEPCOMM access are now available under Account Registration and Maintenance through the Help section of BICON.

We encourage accredited persons to gain access to the BICON version prior to implementation of the phase 2 changes.

The Department will be providing more information on the AEP reform phase 2 changes at the upcoming CBFCA Regional Conventions and other Continuing Biosecurity Competency (CBC) session to be delivered by the CBFCA in the new CBC year.
