Import Industry Advice Notice 05-2017 (NNF 2017/013)


The following information has been provided by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources in Industry Advice Notice 05-2017 New and revised approved arrangements for the management of imported perishable plant products and is forwarded for your attention.

Who does this notice affect?

Industry stakeholders that deal with imported fresh fruit and vegetables, nursery stock (excluding tissue cultures) and cut flowers (perishables) consignments including importers, Approved Arrangement (AA) class 1.2 and 2.4 operators, freight forwarders and brokers.

Purpose

To provide industry stakeholders with an opportunity to provide feedback to the department on:
  1. a newly developed AA for industry-managed airfreight perishable consignment packaging verification inspections (Verification of Packaging for Airfreight Perishables), and
  2. revised requirements for AA Class 2.4 – Fresh Produce, Nursery Stock and Cut Flowers.

Arrangement consultation


The VPAP arrangement and revised class 2.4 requirements are currently open for consultation. If you would like to provide feedback the draft documents are available on the department’s website.

Please provide your feedback to the department at AA Canberra. Please include “VPAP/AA 2.4” in the subject line.

The period for consultation closes on Friday 24 February 2017 at 23:59 EDST.

Subject to industry comment received during the specified consultation period, it is the intention of the department to implement both VPAP and the revised AA class 2.4 requirements on 3 April 2017.
