Processing Refund Applications (NNF 2016/113)

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has issued notice No.2016/24 to articulate the DIBP policy position regarding the timely processing of duty refund applications.

Your industry association has been advocating on behalf of members for an extended period to DIBP the need to clarify the policy position regarding refund processing as members were experiencing held refunds where required non refund information was requested. 

This notice provides some clarity as to the processing and requests for information, however we consider and have requested that additional guidelines be provided as to the circumstances that would apply to the application of the three mentioned options to obtain further documents.

We will continue to request further guidance through our involvement on the DIBP Compliance Advisory Group.
