Review of Customs Licensing Regimes

The following information has been provided by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection and is forwarded for your attention.

“On 24 May the final report of the Review of Customs Licensing Regimes was released onto the Department’s website.

When the report was released we undertook to provide, by mid-June 2017, information about how the recommendations would be implemented. I can advise that:

  • A project team has been established within DIBP to implement the recommendations.
  • An implementation plan has been drafted for the Comptroller General about what will be done, time frames and the resources needed.
  • Some activities have commenced, such as the recently released guidance for completing customs broker licence applications.

My team will be in contact again with another update after the Commissioner has endorsed the next steps. For information, this email has been sent to all those that made submissions to the Review.

Yours faithfully,

Murray Edwards
