Verified Gross Mass Industry FAQs

Members were advised in e-Bulletin - Issue 19, 24 September 2015, and e-Bulletin – Issue 24, 9 December 2015 as to  container weight verification as an  international standard from 1 July 2016. The options as to weight determination were referenced in the CBFCA article as well as the referenced to the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA)  operational tool. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) will begin implementing the Safety of Life At Sea (SOLAS) Convention amendments relating to container weight. This requirement will affect all Australian exporters and those working with them in their logistics chain.

The following organisations have produced the attached Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document , in response to questions that have been raised by the industry in relation to the revised SOLAS regulation and the accompanying guidelines.
