Significant ongoing changes have been imposed on service providers in meeting the needs of regulatory agencies on compliance aspects related to international trade logistics and supply chain management.  The Business Operations section of the CBFCA web site is aimed at supporting members in dealing with the evolving operational environment. 

The CBFCA Board Director for Freight and Business Operations is Mr David Scott (General Manager Customs and Logistics at VI.SA Australia).

David is supported by the CBFCA Aifreight Convenor, Mr Michael Bennett (GP Logistics) and the CBFCA Manager Freight and Business Operations, Mr Paul Zalai.

The Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. (CBFCA) has a prominent role representing members' interests to the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (Customs and Border Protection) by leading industry consultation at executive to regional management levels. Post Integrated Cargo System (ICS) cutover and attention has turned to achieving operational efficiencies and implementing compliance management strategies. Results of this engagement activity is evident at CBFCA events and via member notices.

The Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc (CBFCA) has a prominent role representing member's interests in various Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) consultative forums. The support of members in the resolution of key issues is paramount and your commentary / support to State Committees or Board of Directors Portfolio holders is critical. 

The Customs Brokers & Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. (CBFCA) will continue to support members on aviation security and supply chain management processes during 2008. The CBFCA successfully obtained membership to FIATA and will be increasing its focus on international issues affecting members. The CBFCA is also actively participating in IATA forums.

The Customs Brokers & Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. (CBFCA) is currently working collaboratively with all affected stakeholders to develop strategies to support members on operational issues pertaining to "Maritime Security" requirements, shipping line container detention charges, chain of responsibility / container weight declarations, regional port / infrasrtucture developments, road, rail and stevedore interface. 

The Customs Brokers & Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. (CBFCA) has had Trading Terms and Conditions reviewed by the its legal adviser Hunt & Hunt Lawyers. These are available on the CBFCA Website under Members Documents on the password protected area of the Website.

As members will be aware from Web Communicator and National News Flashes over the past several years the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council Australia Inc (CBFCA) (in conjunction with other interested industry groups) has been working to reduce a perceived risk to members arising out of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) treatment of GST payable on (INCOTERMS) DDP and DDU transactions. This issue and that of the Value of the Taxable importation have been longstanding, with the CBFCA identifying and raising with the ATO the deficiencies in the legislation on the introduction of the A New Tax System (ANTS) legislation in July 2000. 

The Customs Brokers & Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. (CBFCA) works collaboratively with AusIndustry being the Australian Government’s business program delivery division in the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources delivering more than 30 business products, including innovation grants, tax and duty concessions, small business services, and support for industry competitiveness worth nearly $2 billion each year to about 10,000 small and large businesses.

The Customs Brokers & Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. (CBFCA) has provided an opportunity for business members to receive advice by way of access to IR Australia Pty Ltd. With IR Australia the CBFCA is able to assist its business members structuring their operations to minimize and manage their industrial relations and other associated risk.  

The Customs Brokers & Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. (CBFCA) has provided an opportunity for business members to receive legal advice by way of access to Hunt & Hunt Lawyers who provide a comprehensive range of services to CBFCA members.  

The Customs Brokers & Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. (CBFCA) has worked collaboratively with the Department of Defence. The Defence Export Control Office (DECO) recently released the Defence Export Control Bulletin which covers a wide variety of topics.

To make it easier to navigate the website and find specific information, the CBFCA has created a ‘state of the art’ search function as key member benefit. To access the search function, members’ ID and password are required when logging in to the website.
